A wine bar for all types of wine drinkers, from the debutants to the aficionados, this is by far one of the most interactive wine bars I’ve ever been to. This place is ideally located just around the corner from Paris’ largest wine store Lavinia and Place Vendome at 9 Rue des Capucines, 75009 and 27 rue de Marignan, 75008.
As soon as you enter you see Parisians sitting comfortably in couches and high table tops, then you are greeted by a very nice associate (who also speaks English) which explains how the system works. You are given a card which costs 2€ to which you can add any amount of credit to it, then you are given a glass of wine and after you pay your desired amount of possible drinks you are set free to drink from a large variety of wines. There are labeled machines all over, ranging from white wine, rosé and red wines and fruity or round ones as well. You can see the bottle of wine being chilled with a sort of straw inside of them from which the wine is extracted and added to your own wine glass.
To ‘pour’ the wine you insert your card in a card slot and select your preferred wine and the desired amount 3cl, 6cl or 12cl, then you place your wine glass under a nozzle and you’ll see the wine pouring out like magic. There is also another screen describing the taste profiles of each of the wines in that “fridge machine” to help you select your desired wine. If you use up all your credit you can buy more at the register or if you don’t drink all the credit in your card you can save it for some other time. Prices vary from 1€ to even a 35€ for a 3cl, but the average was 2-4€ for a 6cl glass, which is great for wine tasting at anytime. If you love a wine, you can end up buying a bottle at a reasonable price to take home or drink ‘sur place’.
I recommend this place for dates, hanging out with friends and business meetings, as it is quiet enough to hold comfortable conversations.
